Toby Nokes' Bio

Welcome to American Mixed Martial Arts

I have studied Martial arts for over 25 years and have been teaching since 1993. I started helping Instructor Jermey Zinskie at the Smithville Martial Arts Academy and was there until 1996 when he decided to pursue other achievements.

I took a style named Ronin Do in Dibrell, TN., under a GREAT Instructor, Clay Craford. I wasn't there very long when Mr. Craford stated that,” I was too advanced for him to teach and I needed to go take Martial Arts from someone who could take me further” So I did.

I found Instructor Ed Hutchison in Indianapolis, IN., who tested me at first degree in Kenpo and I earned a Certified Instructor title.

Later in 1997, I opened my first school named ‘Nokes Red Dragon Marial Arts College’ and was open until 2003. During this time, I achieved my Black Sash from instructor Rick Berry in Lebanon, TN., and also received my Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu.

Credits include: A Black Belt National Champion, Two-time TN. state champion, MS. state champion, and an R.S.K.C Heavy weight champion title in 2001. I also have trained dozens and dozens of state, national, and world champions. I’m a fourth Degree in Kenpo Karate and will take my fifth Degree this year. Also, I have earned a Black Sash in Kung Fu, a third Degree in jiu-jitsu.
